Two consortia projects coordinated by Prof. David B. Blumenthal are launching at the Biomedical Network Science Lab: In the DFG-funded project DyHealthNet, a network-based software platform will be developed which will allow interactive analysis of the Cooperative Health Research in South Tyrol (CHRIS) study data, one of the largest population cohorts in Italy. In the BMBF-funded project NetMap, Prof. Blumenthal and his team will develop algorithms and machine learning models for scRNA-seq data analysis, which will combine dimensionality reduction with the inference of differential gene regulatory networks. The new methods will be used to investigate CD4 helper T cell exhaustion, a limiting factor in cancer immunotherapy.
